A guide on how to research and find video samples shot on Canon cameras to help you choose the right device before making a purchase.
Everybody loves to capture good memories to cherish, either by taking pictures or recording videos. Special events and places are saved by photo enthusiasts and professionals on tapes, CDs, DVDs, and SD cards. There are various video and digital cameras available in different models, designs, and features. The choice of brand and model ultimately depends on the user, and buying an expensive camera is not always wise if it does not suit your needs.
Before purchasing a camcorder, you need to be practical and inquisitive, as a quality device requires a significant investment. Camcorders are getting smaller every year while incorporating advanced features that previously only existed in larger models. However, these cameras can be pricey, and everyday users who simply want to own a camcorder do not necessarily need high-end features. To determine which model suits you best, it helps to examine sample footage shot by different types of photographers: professionals, semi-professionals, and hobbyists.
The Canon VIXREN HF11 HD Camcorder was listed as one of the best video camera gifts of 2008, while Canon PowerShot digital cameras frequently make top holiday gift lists. Owners of these cameras regularly upload photos and videos—some simply to exhibit their work, and others to help prospective buyers choose the right equipment. Although millions of photos shot with Canon digital cameras have been reviewed and uploaded, actual video samples are somewhat more limited.
Here are the steps to find Canon videos:
- Using your preferred search engine, type the words "videos shot on Canon."
- Click on any of the results. One example is a website called Planet5D, which features the top ten music videos shot with the Canon EOS 5D Mark II.
- Another set of keywords you can try is "blogs with Canon videos."
- You can also go to YouTube.com and search for "videos shot with Canon," then click on any result to view the footage.
- Alternatively, you can visit USA.Canon.com directly. The site features a celebrated video titled Reverie, taken with a Canon EOS 5D Mark II digital SLR and produced by Vincent Laforet. Conveniently, the specific lenses used in the production are also listed to help explain how the project was achieved.
Most video platforms feature user reviews and blogs. Visitors leave comments sharing their thoughts on the footage, evaluating the camera's performance, and even comparing prices and competing brand features. Browsing uploaded videos can teach you a great deal, especially if you are a beginner looking to buy a new digital or video camera. Tips and tricks are often included as a bonus on these video-hosting sites, offering photo enthusiasts much more than just a simple preview.
Canon also manufactures other products like printers and scanners, competing directly with Hewlett-Packard (HP). While Canon has made a major mark in the camera industry, HP remains a dominant force in the printer market.
Be careful with your spelling when searching online, or you might end up with unrelated results like videos of Nick Cannon or the addictive game Kitten Cannon.
