A step-by-step guide on how to replace the battery in the Garmin Nuvi 350 GPS device.

GPS devices have become quite popular among city drivers, and for some, having a GPS system in their car has become a necessity. Among the most popular models, the Garmin Nuvi 350 is one of the best-selling GPS devices on the market today.
The Garmin Nuvi 350 offers the best features that many people look for in a GPS device. It is pocket-sized and very easy to use. Its features are quite functional, and its battery can last for at least a thousand cycles.
One problem you may encounter with the Garmin Nuvi, however, is changing its battery. Unlike other devices where you simply pop open a battery cover and replace the batteries, changing the Garmin Nuvi battery requires a more involved process.

  • Unscrew the bottom back of your Garmin Nuvi 350. Flip your Nuvi 350 over, and on the bottom part of the device, you will see two small screws. Use a T5 screwdriver to remove them, as they are the only screws holding the entire casing together.
  • Open the case using a small plastic lever. After removing the two small screws, insert the small plastic lever into the gap in the housing. Carefully pry it open by working your way around the case with the lever. Once you hear clicks or pops, it means the case has loosened. Place the GPS device on a flat surface and slowly remove the case. Make sure your battery stays in place while you remove the case.
  • Disconnect the wires. Once you have removed the case, locate the battery. You will see several wires connected to it. Remove the blue and black wires first, and then remove the green, black, and red wires. Make sure you remember how the wires were connected, as you will need to reconnect them after changing the battery.
  • Change the battery. The Garmin Nuvi 350 uses a small, rectangular Li-ion Polymer 1250mAh battery. You can purchase these batteries at any local electronics store. Reconnect the wires you removed earlier, starting with the red, green, and black wires, followed by the black and blue wires. The connectors will only fit one way; if a connector does not fit, it does not belong there.
  • Close the casing. After you have correctly placed the wires, put the casing back together by snapping it into place. Once you hear the clicks or pops, screw back the two small screws to secure the case.

The Garmin Nuvi 350 should be handled with care. If you are not confident about replacing the battery yourself, you can always bring it to customer support and let them do it. The only downside is that it may cost you a few dollars, especially if your device is no longer under warranty. However, if you have the tools and the skills to do it, you can change the battery yourself by following these simple instructions.
