Oblique Exercises
The oblique muscles are muscles, the abdominal muscles group. There are two groups of oblique muscles & the obliques internal and external obliques. Both extend in a diagonal direction from the side of the waist down towards the center of the basin. Strong oblique muscles are essential for back support and you can even help to improve your posture. The following are some good Exercises to strengthen and stretch the oblique muscles:
- Bicycle Kick. They lie flat on the floor on a comfortable exercise Mat with your lower back pressed to the ground. Place your hands beside your head with your elbows directly & not faced in the direction of your feet. Keep your chin on the chest. You bring both of your knees up to a 45-degree angle and touch slowly your right elbow on your left knee, followed by your left elbow to your right knee. You don't have to touch actually the elbow to the knee, but get as close as you comfortably can reach. This Exercise should be done in a slow, deliberate manner. To do 3 Sets of 10 reps to start.

- Oblique Crunch. Are you bent on the back of your legs and feet flat on the floor. Now you slowly drop both knees to the left so that the left leg on the floor, resting the right leg on the left side. Place your hands with your elbows pointing straight back of your ears & parallel to the ground. Raise your shoulders off the floor for a count of three and then return to the starting position. You start with 3 sets of 10 on each side of the body. A more advanced Version of this Exercise is a 10 pound weight plate from a set of barbell and keep the plate on the chest as you Exercise.
- side bend. Stand with a dumbbell, 10 pounds (or whatever weight feels manageable) in each Hand with your knees slightly bent. You bend over slowly to your right side, lowering the dumbbell as far as you can, and then return to the starting position. 1 Set with 15 reps on the right side, stop for a Moment to do, and then do 15 reps on the left side. You start with 3 Sets of 15 reps on each side.
It is very important to think about correct posture to maintain during sluggish through these Exercises. The key to effective schrag & not Exercises in the quantity it is in quality. And as with any exercise program check with your doctor before you start, your oblique muscles are working.
