In-ceiling speakers to install

Nowadays, many people want to hang the luxury of a Surround sound System but without the Eyesore of speakers everywhere. Fortunately, you can buy speakers that sit flush with the ceiling out of sight without sacrificing sound quality.
step 1
First things first. This article assumes that you have a pre-wired room, or to run speaker wire to the locations you will be mounting speakers. Almost every new house is pre-wired with at least a 5.1 System in mind, and most of the older houses with minimal construction and can be retrofitted. If you don't, crawl comfortably in your attic, it is recommended that a professional do this for you.
step 2
you want to be well prepared everything that you want to use. You will need:
- A drywall knife (available at Lowes or Home Depot for around $10)
- A writing instrument (pencils work best because you on the head be put in writing.)
- A ladder to get you within range of your ceiling safely
- Stud finder
- A power screwdriver with an extended Phillips head bit (a minimum of 4")
- Damp paper cloth (to Remove fingerprints)
- And finally beaten a tarp or sheet down, cleanup to minimize
step 3
Now, since everything is ready, you want to remove the speakers from their packages and put them aside. In the box you will find a template, usually a cardboard cutout, that will tell you how big the hole in the ceiling. Use this template to help you Layout where the speakers are. You have a pre-wired house, this happens quite a lot for you.
step 4
set up The tarp and ladder under the first speaker's location. Use your Studfinder to verify where the studs are in the ceiling. You want to ensure that you have a good idea of what it is. When you have located the studs, hold your template between the two studs to sit in your speaker and trace the hole with your pencil.
step 5
This is the dirty part. With your drywall knife, cut the traced hole in the ceiling. There is a good amount of dust and, if you have it, the isolation, the will bubble over the place. Remember if you have severe allergies or valuable furniture that should be hushed up.
step 6
After the hole is cut, clean the area on the roof floor to make sure the speaker has room to sit in it. Insert your speaker cable to the Terminals on the speaker (usually red and black for-). Do not make the wire clamp, slowly push the speaker up into the hole. Depending on your tracing and cutting ability, it could be a tight squeeze or it may sit loosely. Use your power screwdriver with the extended Bit to the thumb screws on the speaker that secure its clamps to the drywall. Each model has their own way of this, so your manual Check. Be careful not to over tighten the clamps, as the drywall can easily crack. Most of the speakers come with a Grill cover. This is the time to tighten.
step 7
Repeat the previous procedure for the other speakers, which will be the cover. To associate as soon as they are installed, either on the receiver or use the battery Trick to ensure they are properly connected. The battery Trick is to take a AA or AAA battery and touch the leads of the speaker cable. If it is connected correctly, the battery will send a small current through the wire and cause the speaker to "temporarily Pop". This is also a good possibility which cable to which speaker goes, if you are not a track labeled.
That's it. You have Theater-quality speakers in the ceiling. They are relatively maintenance-free and they are almost completely out of sight. Now you need to clean up just yet...
