All BMW vehicles now come with integrated GPS systems. Many of these GPS systems are made by Garmin. Garmin offers software updates for its devices, BMW-motorcycle-owners are able to simply disconnect your GPS and you plug it into the computer to update the software. If you don't easily leave your BMW GPS system, you need it in a BMW dealer for the upgrade.
- unplug the power cable, the mounting of the GPS on the motorcycle. the
- Slide the lock lever on the neck of the GPS device on the left side to unlock it. Slide the GPS. the
- plug your GPS into the power outlet with the A/C power adapter that came with it. the
- plug your GPS into the computer with the USB cable. (You must have an IBM-compatible PC with Windows XP or higher.) the
- you don't Load the Garmin USB drivers if your computer is able to find the driver. (See Resources.) the
- Update your BMW-GPS-software by clicking on "Download" on the Updates and driver support page. (See Resources.) Select run to Run the upgrade in your system. Select "OK", then "setup". the
- Let your GPS system, fully update your software before you remove the device. Once the device is finished, you update it, you will be notified.
