You can get discounts of as much as 25 percent, so don't miss out on these offers.
• Book through Travelocity. If you plan a trip in Europe, Travelocity is the best way to book tickets. As with the Amtrak site, the Travelocity site has a section marked "Great Deals" that compiles all the promos and discounts for purchasing train tickets. Make sure you go over them and choose the one you feel will be most beneficial for you. You can also try availing yourself of the Popular Passes, which are discounted tickets to places specifically packaged for certain periods.
• Use Virgin Trains. You should go to the Virgin Trains site and find even more discounts for train travel in Europe. You can even get discounts for getting a Virgin credit card. Look out for these offers so you can take advantage of the discounts and even the freebies.
• Check with AAA. AAA, or the American Automobile Association, has several ties with certain travel agencies that provide discounts for train tickets. These discounts are usually available for a limited time only, so be sure you are on the lookout for them.
• Follow their social networking sites. Find out whether certain train companies have existing profiles on social networking sites. If they do, join the mailing list or follow them. You will receive promo announcements in real time, as soon as they announce them on the World Wide Web.
